The Radiation Safety Institute of Canada (RSIC) is seeking a full-time Radiation Scientist for its National Laboratories located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
In this role you will be given your unique area of responsibility as we are embarking on new and exciting initiatives, e.g., ISO certification, new services feasibility investigations, and quality improvement projects. The role reports directly to the Director of National Laboratories. The position is located in Saskatoon. While on occasion and upon agreement with the supervisor the incumbent may be allowed to work remotely, it is a full-time “in-office” position.
Job Description
Reporting to the Director of RSIC National Laboratories, the Radiation Scientist will work with Institute scientists and technical staff on assigned projects related to the Institute’s new initiatives. In addition, the role will support technical services, consulting projects in Health Physics, and Institute radiation safety training programs, when required. The latter will serve as introductory training as it allows our new team members familiarize themselves with the work of the Institute.

- National Personal Alpha Dosimetry Service
- Instrument testing and calibration Service
- Sealed source leak testing Service
- National Radon Chamber Services
- Radiation Measurement Services
- Consulting Services
- Training Services
- Technical services research and development
In the performance of duties, the Radiation Scientist may work with radioactive sources.
The Institute will provide laboratory safety, radiation safety, and workplace training for the successful applicant.
Qualifications
- Minimum graduate degree in physics or closely related field
- 3 years experience in Health Physics (preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of the instrumentation used in the measurement of radiation
- Strong project management skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and critical skills
- Detail and quality-oriented
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office applications, in particular, Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
- Efficient and able to work independently with little supervision and to meet specified work outcomes and deadlines
- Experience with quality management systems
- English essential
