Are you someone who thrives in a small team with a big mission? Are you ready to dive into creative digital work from behind the scenes—finding new ways to connect people with our vision and make a real impact? If this sounds like you, then read on, because we need someone just like you!
The Radiation Safety Institute of Canada (RSIC) is looking for a driven and innovative Content and Engagement Specialist to join our team. In this role, you’ll be supporting not one, but two meaningful organizations dedicated to making workplaces and communities safer. Working mainly behind the scenes, you’ll be the strategic voice and creative hand behind our digital presence. Through your work, people will engage with our mission, support our programs, and understand the urgency of what we do. Our partner organization for this adventure is the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP), who have been around since 1928!
This isn’t just a desk job—it’s a chance to craft a digital voice with purpose.
Here’s What You’ll Do:
- Lead Our Digital Storytelling: Working behind the scenes, you’ll create and manage social media strategies that not only gain followers but inspire action and connect people to our mission. Whether it’s on LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook, you’ll make sure our digital presence conveys the importance of our work.
- Create Engaging, Impactful Content: Behind every post is a story, and you’ll be the one telling it. From eye-catching visuals and videos to creative graphics and articles, you’ll use tools like Canva, Adobe Photoshop, and other Adobe products to bring our work to life on the screen.
- Analyze and Refine: You’ll track metrics and adapt strategies to keep our engagement high and our content relevant. Data will be your guide as you fine-tune what works best for each audience and each channel.
- Support Fundraising & Events Behind the Scenes: You’ll help promote fundraising initiatives, manage event communications, and ensure everything runs smoothly by providing essential administrative support. While you won’t be out in the field, your efforts will support those who are.
- Be the Go-To Team Player: In a small team, flexibility is everything. You’ll wear multiple hats, from content creator to project coordinator, providing essential support wherever it’s needed to keep us moving forward.
Does This Sound Like You?
- You’re Experienced – You bring 1-3 years of experience in social media, communications, or administration, and you know how to work each platform to meet unique goals. You’re also familiar with digital marketing tools and comfortable interpreting analytics.
- You’re a Creative Pro – Canva, Adobe Suite, video editing software—you know your way around these tools and can turn ideas into visuals that inspire.
- You’re Analytical and Adaptable – You can pull insights from metrics and know how to adjust strategy based on data, so our content stays engaging.
- You’re Independent Yet Collaborative – You work well behind the scenes, taking initiative and meeting goals on your own, while staying in sync with your team’s vision.
What We’re Offering
- A one-year contract with a $50,000 to $60,000 salary (based on experience) and the potential to transition to a permanent role.
- Competitive benefits and leave to keep you healthy, motivated, and engaged.
- In-Office Flexibility: Two days a week in our downtown Ottawa office, where you’ll connect with team members and bring ideas to life.
- Occasional Travel: Monthly or bi-monthly trips to Toronto to connect with our team, with possible national or international travel opportunities (infrequently) as part of the role.
Why This Role is Unique
This isn’t just a desk job in communications. You’ll be part of a small team with a big mandate, where every piece of content you create and every strategy you execute supports a safer world. It takes a unique person to bring the creativity, discipline, and insight this role requires, but for the right person, it’s a chance to make a true difference. Understanding of ionizing radiation would be great, but not necessary!
