The Radiation Safety Institute of Canada (RSIC) is seeking individuals to serve on the Board of Directors for a 3-year term beginning in June 2024.
Accountabilities
The Board of Directors is responsible for setting strategic direction and providing stewardship to the Institute.
As a member of the Board, you will apply your knowledge, skills, and experience to advance our mission to promote radiation safety and awareness through sharing science and best practices.
Members of the Board will:
- Support and advocate the promotion of radiation safety and awareness;
- Participate in regular Board meetings (3-4 per year);
- Participate in working committee and other initiatives, as needed;
- Provide complete and timely updates to the Board on committee/initiative activities, as needed;
- Respond in a timely manner to Board motions and requests for feedback/information;
- Occasionally support and promote RSIC events, communications, programs and services;
- Represent the Board at conferences and events; and
- Comply with Institutes’ core values, policies and procedures and code of conduct.
Time Commitment
- The Board term is for 3 years.
- A Board member may be re-elected to the Board for up to two additional consecutive terms;
- The time commitment will vary depending on each Director’s participation in the work of a Board committee, which is in addition to regular Board meetings.

Submitting an Expression of Interest
If you are interested in joining the RSIC Board of Directors, please provide a maximum two-page expression of interest letter and a copy of your resume by April 15, 2024, to the attention of the Governance Committee at info@radiationsafety.ca.
Your expression of interest should describe:
- Why you are interested in being a member of the RSIC Board of Directors;
- What skills and qualifications you will bring to the Board;
- Specific examples of how you meet one or several of the desired competencies listed above
- How you can make a difference to promote radiation safety and awareness through sharing science and best practices.
Nominations Process
- The Governance Committee will evaluate each expression of interest and assess candidates to identify the best fit, based on the required/desired competencies, applicant location and diversity of background/experience.
- A short-list of candidates will be selected for telephone interviews.
- All individuals who submit an express interest will be contacted directly regarding the outcome of the process.
- The Governance Committee will submit a slate of candidates to the Board of Directors for approval at the annual general meeting.
